Gene's Place for Genealogy Information and Resources

Gene Stark Welcome to my place. My name is Gene P. Stark and I've developed this site not only to make my own genealogy searches known and available to others, but also to help others in the search for their own "roots". The information I have included is for the "weekend", or beginning, genealogist or family historian and the Tips you will find are based on my own successes, failures, and observations. I'm not a certified genealogist, but I am a certifiable nut when it comes to genealogy. The most important tip of all is, take any genealogical information you find as only a "possibility". Just because the information is on the internet or in print in a book, doesn't make it true. As any number of people who have done research can tell you, keep doubts in your mind about everything until you have really good solid references for your information. Even then, you will find that you will have some doubts.

You will find links to pages that contain my research, and the research of a lot of other people just a little further down the page. At the bottom, you'll find the links to my other pages. I hope that they help you out in your own research.
The Search page has all sorts of links! You'll find links to sites that host genealogy data, genealogy pages, genealogy sites, etc. You will find sites where you can search a particular surname, or a bunch of surnames. You will find sites that will let you find out what genealogy or historical information is available for a particular state or county, and sites that will take you to "forums" that are about a surname, or even a county. These are just the tip of the "iceberg", but they should help most people get started. Last, but certainly not least, there are links to sites that I like - some have to do with genealogy, and some don't.

This is the link to a pdf file that has the index of the 1870 Census of Texas County MO. 1870 Index of Texas County

The following links will transport you to the research that I and others have done on some of my families. Remember, this is a work in progress and check back again. You will see that genealogy works best and is more enjoyable if more than one person is working on the same family. If you find a connection, addition, or correction, or just want to say "Hi", please contact me.

If you arrived here as a result of a search for Gene Stark's Ged2HTML program, you're in for a bit of a disappointment, as I'm not him. You can, however, click on the name of the program in this paragraph to find his wonderful site. A link to his site is also provided on the Software and Search pages - his program and his site are items that people have CERTAINLY found useful!
